    Photo story can be a great way to get students involved in the classroom.
    As a future physical education major, PhotoStory can be used for a variety of reasons in the classroom. PhotoStory can be used as a motivational factor. A PhotoStory could be put together for a lesson being taught and then it can be presented. Different techniques could be used to present this lesson. For example, if a lesson on basketball is going to be taught, professional basketball athletes could be used to inspire the classroom. IPhotoStory could be very encouraging for students.     Photo Story PhotoStory is an amazing tool to use in education. From the endless options you can Google, to the complete ease of importing pictures from your personal computer, Photostory is just awesome. In addition, it is interesting to know that PowerPoint slides can be saved as .jpeg files and then imported into PhotoStory, just like a picture. With any content area, the possibilities available are endless. Research has shown that students easily remember material when presented in rythmn or when music is involved. PhotoStory is simple to use and adding the music is a lot of fun. The use of this program could make some really memorable moments for the students. When using PhotoStory, make sure you include text on each of your slides so students will be able to follow along with what is occuring. PhotoStory can be an excellent tool within the classroom because a material can be presented using a variety of media. Using PhotoStory in the classroom is a great idea for projects, presentations, or introducing new material. This is also an excellent program to use for projects. Students could easily put together a presentation for any content area.
    Although the PhotoStory was extremely time-consuming and frustrating trying to save the document properly, I enjoyed this assignment. The options on how to implement this software in education are countless. The ability to upload any pictures and music is extremely beneficial. This allows the teacher and students to filter out any inappropriate materials which should not be shown in the classroom. For this assignment, my partner and I decided to create a promotional video on the benefits of getting involved in college. We were able to incorporate music which was in alignment to particular pictures. For example, when we had two pictures of SEMO fans at a basketball game. The music we played was the chant "Go Southeast!" Adding appropriate music to pictures draws the audience into the presentation, and ultimately into the information presented. This is one simple way to implement this software in the classroom. However, as stated above, the possibilities are countless. All it takes is a little creativity.

    Another option when creating slides for your PhotoStory is to construct the slides in PowerPoint and save each slide as a JPEG. By using this method, you can create captions and effects for each picture that go beyond what you can do in Photostory. Making the pictures more appealing will cause the students to stay interested.

    What you may also want to do is edit the song you which to use or other recordings so that the part you want to be in the PhotoStory is being heard. There are many free programs that you can find online that allow you to crop songs or other audio files to the exact portion you want.

    Cautions for usingWhen Using Photo Story
    When using pictures from a CD, make sure you download the pictures onto 'C' drive first. The program will not save if pictures are not on your computer. You may have to start over. Save your pictures under My Documents-My Pictures. If this is done first, it will save you a lot of time. Many pictures saved to your computer will slow down its speed, so when you are finished delete pictures.Also for those students who are not using their own computer, make sure to save or download the pictures on a flashdrive or "removal disk." Saving your pictures to your flashdrive or other portable device will help prevent the loss of data needed for your Photostory. Also, when using bought music from ITunes, you are not able to load that music to use in your Photo Story.

    PhotoStory is a great tool for presenting vocabulary and simple concepts in Language Arts and Foriegn Language. The program would be useful to any content area that presents new vocabulary on a regular basis. A PhotoStory can include images and sounds associated with vocabulary being presented. In foriegn language classes pictures of the vocabulary items can be displayed, labeled with the desired language, and audio clips of the pronunciation of the word or phrase can be played. This would be a great way of integrating different music from the target-language's culture. When teaching students parts of language, such as articles or aggreement, PhotoStory can provide examples of correct and incorrect sentence structure. Providing visual examples of a concept aids students in making real connections to the material. A good Photostory can bring a vocabulary list to life or hearing audio of correct grammar and pronouncation can help reinforce the lesson. Not only are visual examples a good way of introducing a topic to students but it also make a lesson more exciting than a regular lecture. You can also use PhotoStory as an introductory tool into a new unit. For example, if you are going to be reading works from Edgar Allan Poe, PhotoStory is a great way to showcase his life and give biographical information that may be pertinent to his writing. This is also is a good way to show students pictures and music from countries that speak the language you are teaching.

    PhotoStory can be a great tool for documenting a unit in a meaningful, dynamic way. I saw a PhotoStory slideshow which archived a sports education curriculum model that was implemented in an elementary school. The undergraduate students who designed and managed the unit taught a 4th grade class floor hockey by using the sport education curriculum model. PhotoStory was a great tool to show all the work that the students did during the unit. Pictures and music were used to create a presentation showing the championship event that the students created on the final day of the unit. All key components were captured on digital cameras and presented in a PhotoStory slideshow.
    I think that physical education can use this for highlight videos of sporting events. I think that a good project idea would be to have the students do a highlight video of a sporting event. This was it will let the students get involved with out of school activities, and they are using the technology.
    I think PhotoStory is a great creative tool for physical education. PhotoStory can work well for a health class, coaching, and as a end of the year video used at an awards banquett. I can use the program in PE as a way to show skill progression. I can use it as an introduction to a unit. I can use it for health as a nutrition guide, unit introduction, etc. I can collect pictures throughout a coaching season and make a video of the seniors. I'd make copies that way the seniors have it to remember their time on the team. I can also have my students work with this program and become familiar with it. I can assign a project for them to cover. It could be over a sport, a skill, nutrition, fitness, etc. This will allow my students to be creative, learn more, and teach the class. I could also learn more from my students by this.

    PhotoStory is awesome for presenting material to students. You could use it to introduce new material or highlight important events. Social Studies students can use PhotoStory to to present research on historial events and important people. Students researching a historical figure can find primary sources from the individual's time and upload them into their presentation. A student creating a PhotoStory of FDR can upload primary sources such as letters, journals, speeches, and other important documents written by the president. Sound can also be added to enhance the presentation. Audio recordings of FDR's "fireside chats" or "declaraton of war" can be uploaded to accompany relevant pictures. Music is important to conveying the mood of the PhotoStory. Using primary music can help convey the historical context of the time. Presentations on FDR or WWII could use music from the era to help communicate the mood. There are many websites that have historical music clips for free download. A great site for WWII (1941-1945) would include www.6thcorpsmusic.us/. Photo Story takes some work and effort to create a compelling story but it worth the work. In the end Photo Story is more captivating than a power point. The ability to combine photos and music from the era being presented is much more effective than other presentation tools. For a busy teacher there are many good Photo Stories avaliable on the web on sites such as at Teacher Tube http://www.teachertube.com/ and a site that would be especially helpful to Social Studies teachers,Connections http://cnx.org/content/m18055/latest/.

    I believe PhotoStory is a feature that can be incorporated into social studies classrooms as a way to help students learn material through sight and sound. I enjoyed doing this assignment during class. Caitlyn and I created out PhotoStory over the GI's during Vietnam. We assembled several pictures along with a John Lennon song to convey the pain and triumph these soldiers faced during the Vietnam War. In addition, my cooperating teacher, Mr. Mabuce, actually used this program during his lesson over the West. He showed various pictures of Indians in the West along with native music. This incorporated both official Indian pictures with their music in order to emphasize their history and culture.
    The concept of teaching Social Studies in a cyclical manner is common, and tphotostory takes advantage of that. In learning history teachers attempt to make it engaging and therefore its taught in a story-like format. This makes it easier to understand implications that certain events have on the future, or the past. If preseneted with the task of creating photo-stories I believe that stiudents will have an incredible amount of knowledge of theie topic.

Visual representations are a crucial part of teaching mathematics. There are so many different abstract/complex concepts in mathematics that pictures make it much easier to understand them. PhotoStory is also a tool math teachers can use to show students real life situations that use mathematics. When I created a PhotoStory for this assignment, I designed a picture story about tessellations. I used pictures from real world examples that show a shape being repeated. For example, I took a picture of a tile floor to show how squares are tessellated. From this video clip, I think it gave the students a better idea of what tessellations are. I think that being able to use PhotoStory in a math classroom would come in handy in so many ways. The only problem is that it can be a little time consuming to create and entire photo show, so I would have to think really hard about what lesson, or lessons, I would use photo story so that it would be the most helpful and useful for the given lesson. I think that a huge positive for PhotoStory is that it is a different way to present information, and I think in a lot of ways it would grab the students attention much more than a normal lesson where the teacher is just standing in front of the class preaching to the students.
    So many times, students will look at math as a mess of letters and numbers which mean nothing. I specifically saw this in the geometry class I taught during Block III. The students were learning to write equations of lines and graph them. Many students complained that they thought the material was useless and that they'd never use it again. Using PhotoStory to take pictures of everyday things they encounter which were created using the equation of a line would make the material more meaningful. A PhotoStory containing pictures of the bridge they cross to get to school, the football field they play on, and the stairs and wheelchair ramps they use to enter the buildings would give them ownership of the material as well as more understanding.

    Photo Story can be a valuable tool in the music classroom. Music students may use Photo Story to showcase their own individual compositions. Students can save their recordings (for example: students can use Photo Story as a sound story) and use their entire piece. Photo Story can be used as a visual enhancer to music lessons and helps students learn using all their senses. If you select music for one slide, the music will continue playing unless you tell it to stop. This allows you to create a film with the music changing as the pictures shift.

    I have found that using Photo Story to show young students how to put their instruments together, take them apart, and how to keep them clean and take care of them works well. It is a simple enough for young students to understand, and you can burn the story onto a disc for students to take home and use. It works well because you can take pictures of correct posture, fingerings, and whatever else you want to explain, but you don't have to video anything. You may also use a recording of one of your higher-level bands to help inspire the young students.
    Photo Story can also be used as a visual way of listening to performing ensembles. With pictures related to the past year or subjects of the songs, a band or choir's performances can be set as the background music. This could enhance the listening of the music as well as showcase the ensembles at the end of the year. Photo Story is the perfect program for putting together a slide show for the last concert of the year. Photos from rehearsals, contests/competitions, other concerts, and field trips can be put together with recordings from previous performances to sum up the students’ experience in their class.

    FACS and Photostory
    I would enjoy using photostory in FACS for family relation assignments. One way to practice family systems is have students identify a family system within their friend groups. They have to identify the "mother," the "baby," etc. It is definitely an assignment for older students but they do have fun with it. Students love pictures of themselves and their friends so the using pictures would make the assignment even more interesting. Photostory would be a creative way to have the students present their "family" to the class. Two days in the computer lab would be ample time to create a Photostory that provides enough information. The only trick would be getting the students' pictures to the computer lab safely.

These activities allow students to get a good workout without realizing they are really working out. It brings a fun and entertaining environment to the gym rather than running around the track, or always taking direction from your teacher. Students will be able to have personal statistics and portfolios so that they can track their own progressions and also see where they need to work on things.
